Beyond the Prize: Insights into Winning an Art Award

Award-winning artist Diane Griffiths recently won The People's Choice Award 2024 in The British Art Prize, with her painting of the Newquay Texaco garage Driving Home.

In this short talk around what it means to be an award-winning artist, Diane will share insights into the whole experience, from entry through to the voting campaign, the award, London exhibition and being featured in Artists & Illustrators magazine.

She will give you top tips on how to submit to art competitions but also share why rejection, honestly, isn't personal. Also discover how you can make a difference when opportunities come your way, what it really means to win an award and what happens next!

Dreams, Steam & Justice: 5 People from Cornwall who Changed the World!

Join author and manga artist Keith Sparrow to hear the amazing stories of some of Cornwall's most celebrated figures - people who changed Cornwall, England and the World!

The book looks at Richard Trevithick, pioneer of the steam engine; Emily Hobhouse, civil rights campaigner during the Boer War in South Africa; Richard Lander, who discovered the source of the Niger River in Africa; Rowena Cade, who built the iconic Minack Theatre; and John Couch Adams, who discovered the planet Neptune! 

Keith will also explain how he put the book together, with some useful tips for aspiring manga creators and artists.
